José María García Urbano, the widely acclaimed mayor of the sunny fishing village, expressed his great satisfaction with the final result. In a post of Facebook, he wrote the following:
“Today is a great day to enjoy the redesigned promenade; one of the most emblematic areas of the city. At the same time, all water supply and sewage networks have been renewed, improving all these service infrastructures.

In June 2020, the Estepona City Council completed the administrative procedure for the tender for the refurbishment of the central part of the Paseo Marítimo. Work began in September of that year, and was completed with a budget of 2.6 million euros.
Boulevard by the sea
The promenade is not only one of the most beautiful streets in Estepona, but also stands for its unique sea views. It is also a perfect place to enjoy the sea. Of course, good quality and affordable restaurants can be found here. In short, an excellent place for a delicious snack and drink.
Walkway to the port of Estepona
The promenade of Estepona has large, spacious pedestrian areas and gardens and shelter from the sun. It extends from La Rada beach, in the center of Estepona, to the fishing port, at the foot of the Punta Doncella lighthouse (where you can see the fishermen bringing their fish to the fish market).
The promenade is full of beach bars, boats with espetos (sardines) on the sand and restaurants where you can taste the typical gastronomy of the region.
A must-see is the wooden walkway over the cliff, which is part of the coastal path that runs up to Marbella and from where you have a beautiful view of Gibraltar, especially at sunrise and sunset.
Both in the best areas of Estepona and in the most beautiful streets, they have managed to combine the origins of the fishing village with tourist development and the promotion of luxury real estate developments.
