1. General
Cancelada is a small village that is part of Estepona. The area has been urbanized both towards the coast and along the mountains, but it has retained its Andalusian character. Here you will find sophisticated new build projects of high quality. It is a quiet area focusing on family life, which means that there is currently a high demand for real estate.
2. Sights
Cancelada is not a major tourist attraction, but it has some important landmarks.
For example, along the inlet that feeds the artificial lake of Villa Padierna, you will find a 19th century aqueduct called Taraje Aqueduct. And on Playa del Saladillo you will also find an old XVI century watchtower known as Torre Vigía del Saladillo.
Another tower that is also worth a visit is Torre de Guadalmansa. This tower was named after the Guadalmansa River and has a rather unusual feature. However, this tower is square, suggesting that it is Moorish.
3. Culinary delights
There is certainly no shortage of good bars and restaurants in Cancelada!
One of the best restaurants where we eat regularly is El Carnicero. Since 1993 they serve delicious meat dishes.
If you are feeling hungry after visiting Torre de Guadalmansa, we recommend stopping at restaurant Fons. This restaurant is known for its excellent service and delicious Mediterranean dishes.
In addition, at Villa Padierna Club de Mar you can enjoy excellent fish dishes, in the shade of the palm trees overlooking the sea!
4. Lifestyle
Cancelada is a village where many different nationalities can be found. Despite this international character, there is a very quiet atmosphere here. This is mainly due to the fact that this village attracts many families. Here you find mainly low-rise building, and there is currently much demand for it. However, the many new construction projects do not alter the fact that Cancelada still retains its authentic character.
5. Nightlife
Due to the quiet atmosphere and the presence of many families, Cancelada does not have a very vibrant nightlife. If you want a night out, it is best to head to the surrounding cities such as Estepona or Marbella. In addition, the most exclusive port, Puerto Banús, is just 10 minutes from Cancelada, where you will find numerous bars and clubs.
6. Shopping
In Cancelada local supermarkets are definitely present and you will also find small local stores.
For the big shopping enthusiasts we recommend to definitely go along Puerto Banús. Here you will find the most exclusive designer boutiques of the Costa del Sol! Estepona and Marbella are also the place to be for more extensive shopping.
7. Sports & Leisure
As in many other cities on the Costa del Sol, you can play golf in Cancelada.
Discover El Paraíso golf club, one of the most renowned golf courses on the Costa del Sol. Located in the tranquil El Paraíso valley with the majestic ‘La Concha’ mountain in the north and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea in the south, El Paraíso golf club is literally a golf paradise!
You also should have seen Villa Padierna golf club. This resort has no less than three golf courses: Flamingos Golf, Alferini Golf and Tramores Golf; as well as Michael Campbell’s Tramores Golf Academy – the only school in Europe that specializes in short game and private lessons!
8. Beaches & Beach Clubs
The beach next to Cancelada is called Playa El Saladillo. This is a well equipped beach where you will find many restaurants, showers, toilets and other facilities. It is characterized by a family atmosphere, as many children can have fun there. In addition, this beach carries a blue EU flag, which means that the beach and its facilities are of high quality.
One of the best beach clubs on Playa del Saladillo is Villa Padierna Club de Mar. Taste caviar and lobster with a sparkling view of the coast. Try homemade paella with a glass of local cava, or enjoy a romantic three-course dinner near the beach!
