1. General
Benahavís is one of the most desirable places on the Costa del Sol. This mountain village has seen great growth due to the expansion of golf and luxury accommodations, but has certainly not lost its charm. People who stay here have breathtaking views of the coastline between Marbella and Estepona and can even spot the coast of Africa on a clear day. The natural environment makes Benahavís a beautiful and picturesque location.

Nature is central in Benahavís. Just the views of the coastline or the surrounding mountains catch the eye of every visitor. But apart from the lush nature, there are of course also some monuments to visit.
Parque Torre Leonera is a small pleasant walking park where you will find old remains from the Middle Ages. For children there is a play area and on the spot you can occasionally enjoy open air concerts. It is a well-maintained refuge from the hustle and bustle of the coast.
The castle of Montemayor can also be visited here. It dates from the 10th century and some of the walls are still in good condition. The Queen Tower is the most important feature of the castle and is also well preserved. If you would visit the castle on Sundays, you will definitely come across the Sunday market along the way. This is a very popular market that attracts many buyers and sellers from the coastal areas.
A natural monument worth visiting in Benahavís village is the Guadalmina River. Here you can do canyoning or you can hike along the footpath by the river, which starts at Charco de Las Mozas and leads to the gorge of Las Angosturas.

Benahavís is not that big, but there are plenty of restaurants. It has all the culinary qualities of a mountain village and therefore offers many varied meats such as rabbit, beef or venison, along with traditional fish dishes. A must to visit is El Cordero. This restaurant is the only one in Benahavís with an authentic wood oven. Except for the pasta’s and salads, everything is cooked in the oven. At El Cordero there is a relaxed atmosphere and the service is excellent!
At Hills Cafe & Restaurant Benahavís, you can have lunch or dinner in style with a beautiful view. Here, Andalusian cuisine is combined with French cuisine and dishes are presented with a creative twist.
Besides the above restaurants we would also like to mention Luck cocktail bar & restaurant. This bar is located in Benahaví’s village and serves not only delicious cocktails but also some innovative tapas. Here you can relax on the terrace along the street side or on the terrace at the back which has a beautiful view on the mountains.
4. Lifestyle
Benahavís attracts countless inhabitants because of its many golf courses and its exclusive location in the mountains. It has a population of about 9000 inhabitants among which there are 84 different nationalities. So there is a very international but quiet atmosphere here. This is in great contrast with the big cities such as Marbella or Fuengirola. In Benahavís the quality of life is very high, so this place is definitely recommended for people looking for peace and beauty on the Costa del Sol.
5. Nightlife
If you would like an night out, it is best to descend to the coastline in the direction of Estepona or Marbella. There is always something to do in these bustling cities, and in just 15 minutes you are in Puerto Banús!
6. Shopping
Benanavís village has small shops for daily necessities. In addition, there is a large supermarket located on the outskirts of the municipality. However, the passionate shoppers will have to move more towards the coast in order to be able to do extensive shopping. Luckily Puerto Banús is only 15 minutes away from Benahavís and Marbella and Estepona are also 25 minutes drive away.
7. Sports & Leisure
Golf is the most practiced sport among the residents of Benahavís. Not surprising if you look at the number of nearby golf clubs. We will give you a small overview of where you can play golf yourself.
Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club is definitely worth a visit. This 18 hole golf course was designed by Severiano Ballesteros in 1991. Its design blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings and follows the contours of the course. To bring you into the right atmosphere for the challenges ahead, Los Arqueros Golf offers an extensive practice area including driving range, putting greens, chipping green and practice bunkers.
You can also play golf at La Quinta Golf & Country Club. This 27-hole golf course was built in 1990 by Manuel Piñero, a Spanish golf professional. It is located in a very beautiful location between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains and you can not only play golf but also stay in the accompanying restaurant.
El Higueral is a 9-hole golf course also located in Benahavís. Here you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding nature and get the most out of each round.
Benahavis Hills Country Club is also a very pleasant place to be. However, this is not a golf course, but here you can take advantage of the fitness or unwind in the wellness area. If you’d also like to have lunch or dinner here, it’s perfectly possible because, as mentioned above, the Hills Café & Restaurant Benahavís allows you to have lunch or dinner in style with a beautiful view of Benahavís.
8. Beaches & Beach Clubs
Since Benahavís is a mountain village located about 10 kilometers inland, it is best to head to Marbella or Estepona to enjoy the beach. The Costa del Sol has many beautiful beaches with all the necessary facilities to fully enjoy sun, sea and vacations.
